Rejected and dejected
End of last year I told my boss I’m interested to work 4-day weeks.
My request has been rejected.
Huaaarggh :(

well, it was verbal (both request & rejection), but official enough la tu.. sbb mmg all these so-called policy up to line managers to okay it first. if diorg okay, baru ada paperwork with the hr.
sebenarnya pjg la ceritanya, tapi in a nutshell the reasons:
- they want to maximise my potential (yeah right, more like they want to squeeze my productivity)
- my reason not strong enough, kalau ada sickly parent, disabled child etc then got stronger case
all i want is to exchange some money (cut salary) for some time.. huhu :(

betul! apsal susah sangat depa nak compromise to this? i mean, it is indeed our money kan?
i think malaysia's work culture is yet to accept this system.
kalau kat abroad tu, ramai my colleague yang kerja 3-4 hari seminggu. ada yang kerja first half day aje.. etc.
i wish malaysian employees would at least open up to the ideas.
afterall, duit kita, dan masa kita kan? bukannya nak mintak free-free.

ada juga rasa bengang di situ.. rasa mcm 'terperangkap' pun ada..
Well, at least you can still 'work from home'.

aduh... takpelah mynie. be strong. mungkin ada hikmah. mungkin ada opportunity lain.. mana tau? :) at least your employer ada juga scheme camni... kalau kat petronas, langsung takde.. work from home pun tak pernah dengar!

the thing is aku belum pernah dgr kompeni lain yg ada bagi this kind of terms.. kompeni aku kerja skrg ni kira advanced in flexi-policy, pun aku tak dpt, apatah lg kompeni lain. tengoklah dulu, akan ku rangka strategi baru. maybe kena cari dept lain yg bos lg vogue (mcm knv hehe) kot ;p i'll definitely start asking around kalau2 ada dept yg mmg cari part-timer.

sedih, tapi takdelah sedih sgt sebenarnya :) nikmat Allah sgt banyak untuk disyukuri. org lain kat luar sedih takde kerja, saya tak boleh lah sedih sgt just sbb tak boleh change my working terms..

bos aku best sebenarnya, very fair & bijak. dia sgt dedicated terhadap kerja and company.. which i'm not haha ;p

betul juga ipohmom cakap tu. hari tu risik fasal breastfeeding room, rupanya ada proposal dulu even though ada this lactation counsellor wanted to provide everything. tapi the CEO during that time, rejected the idea sbb dia kata takut rooms being misused. erk! us cannot be trusted kut..
mynie, dulu2 saya ingat kerja lecturer cuma mengajar je & ada flexibility & freedom... rupanya hanya myth semata.... in fact, mine is 45 hours a week...:( How I wish boleh work from home...
