This blog is one year old

Well, actually, one year plus. I missed the exact anniversary date by more than a month. But nevermind - I’d still like to do something for this occasion, something that other people usually do in their first post rather than after a whole year, which is – to introduce myself!

I’m Mynie Mat (nick). I’ve been married 5 wonderful years to MHH (who, knowing him, would prefer to remain anonymous here) and our son, Munief Ridhwan, is almost 18 months old. We stay with my parents in the Bangi/Putrajaya vicinity and I commute to work daily to my office in KL. I’m working for a company in a sales and marketing department as an analyst, doing a lot of number crunching on pricing, profitability, management information, and business performance. It’s vastly different from what I did in uni, which was engineering, but I like it a lot better. I did do some engineering in a previous assignment though (haha, as if to justify myself ;p).

After one year, I’d also like to revisit the reasons why I started to blog:

1. To express and share (some of) my observations, thoughts, feelings, opinions, and experiences


2. As a medium of communication, to make new friends (and hoping to meet more!), as well as to learn from others


3. To practice writing – after 10 years of intense numbers-centric tasks, I feel like doing some ‘mengarang’ again. I have this bad habit of campur-campur language though (something MHH always reminds me not to do, heheh)


4. As a side activity - for fun, almost like a hobby, to enhance a sense of self

A bit of statistics: this is my 62nd post, implying that I more or less achieved my target of one post a week, though of course in reality, the frequency is not so uniformed – no post for three weeks sometimes, but two posts in a week at other times.
