The people has spoken
Wow - the result of PRU12 is so exciting and impressive! Alhamdulillah. It's absolutely beyond my expectation. I had been sceptical of major change, not because I do not feel that the people wants change, but rather because I feel that the playing field is far from level. Kelantan is maintained with even stronger majority, and four more states have been wrested from BN - who would have guessed? This is also the first time BN is denied 2/3 majority in teh parliament since 1969. I certainly hope that this will be a wake up call to the BN government who have been pretty complacent in carrying out their amanah. On the other hand, when looking at each components in the Opposition team, PAS seems to have shone less than PKR and DAP, in terms of the increment of seats won compared to 2004, but still shining nevertheless.
What next? It'll be interesting to see how the four states will be managed by the combination and permutation of the 3 parties: likely Penang by DAP & PKR, Kedah PAS & PKR, Perak & Selangor by all 3 maybe? I hope they will succeed to work together to deliver well and maintain the people's trust. Harmonising differences in agenda and vision will certainly be a challenge, but one that can hopefully be overcome reasonably smoothly. This is decidedly a new era for Malaysia - where a better check and balance will hopefully propel us forward faster! Forward not just in physical and material sense, but more importantly spiritually and intellectually.
