Talk About Books
Mektwain tagged me to do some 38 questions a couple of weeks ago, but upon reading the questions, I notice that some of them seems familiar. I think some questions are similar to a tag I've done before, here. So, instead of doing the 38 questions, I'd like to start a new tag, boleh ke? Let's Talk About Books!
Last book read?
Men Are From Mars, Women Are From Venus by John Gray. A bit late I guess, considering the book is first published in 1992, but better late than never, right? The book does give some useful insights, but I do find the elaboration a bit tedious and repetitive.
Currently reading?
Learning FUNdamentals (0-3 Early Years) by Colin Rose & Gorden Dryden. What I like about the book is that it's not just all theories and garbles. Instead, the book is packed with practical ideas, games and activities.
Favourite genre?
I like most fiction actually, but if I have to pick one, it'll be a crime/action thriller, but not the bloody, violent and disturbing ones, rather a whodunnit puzzle. Agatha Christie is a good example, I enjoy reading her stories.
Favourite author?
Jeffrey Archer, who doesn't write crime/action thriller actually, a bit contradictory to the earlier question. I was introduced to his works by my best friend some thirteen years ago and have been hooked since. I like his short stories best; they're usually witty, entertaining, and with clever twists.
Favourite book - fiction?
Not a Penny More, Not a Penny Less by Jeffrey Archer. It's his first book, if I'm not mistaken. Four people who were cheated by a conman didn't get mad - they got even. They put their heads together to con the conman to get back their own money.
Favourite book - nonfiction?
Freakonomics by Steven D Levitt and Stephen J Dubner. Not because it's life-changing or extremely useful, but simply because I have really enjoyed reading it. It's probably one of the very few nonfictions that I found'unputdownable' - kept me awake till two or three in the morning. The book showed how economics is not just about all the heavy duty stuffs, but also about our everyday life. It validated my interest in statistical maths and it's use in social context.
3 books you wish to read next?
Wang, Islam dan Anda by Ustaz Zaharuddin Abdul Rahman
Cat O'Nine Tales & Other Stories by Jeffrey Archer
The Naked Chef by Jamie Oliver
