Random jottings

1) Tag: Blogger award

Thanks to Ummu Auni for the award. Although I don’t think I deserve it since I don’t blog daily. I do try to blog once a week though. I actually do jot down bits and pieces of things in my draft document (mostly a one-liner idea), but I’m neither organised nor efficient enough to write properly as often as I would like to.

This is so sweet! Thanks for the friendships, too. I think blogs do help people to keep in touch, be it old friends or new friends.

I'd like to pass the award to my old friend, Afi, whom I've known for more than 15 years. You write with such sincerity and honesty, and I like to read your writings because of the many good reminders and tazkirahs you managed to slip in. Another one goes to my new friend Anamiraa, whom I've known for about 15 months (I think). I don't leave comments often, Kak Ana, but I do read your blog regularly because you often write motivational and inspirational stuffs, which I benefit from.

2) Last Breath

A few days ago, I listened to a song called Last Breath by Hafiz Hamidun for the first time. At first I wondered whether the song had been written under the shadows of Western nasyeed figuras – the likes of Yusuf Islam, Zain Bikha etc, and then I suddenly felt like I was listening to something almost West End! How odd. But I had really enjoyed the song. The melody itself is good, and I like how it’s delivered without the accompanient of any musical instrument. I just googled the song - apparently it won the susunan Lagu Terbaik kategori lagu bukan Bahasa Melayu. Here’s the link to his blog.

3) SetemKu

I was at the post office this morning and noticed a poster advertising one of Pos Malaysia’s philatelic products which is personalised stamps. I thought it’s pretty cool – special souvenirs to commemorate special events (Wedding doorgifts anyone? Err.. maybe not. Stamps for card invitations, maybe.). The price is not bad either. It starts from 73.5 sen (inclusive of the 30 sen stamp value) for individuals and 80 sen for corporates.

4) Top 10 things your husband really needs

I know I’m not supposed to be netsurfing at work, but the one-liner link I saw when I was checking my email had grabbed my attention. So I’d just like to share this with you, for my reminder as well.

Introduction: Giving Him What He Wants
It’s not as simple as it seems.

Tip One: To show you he’s strong and capable
Beneath the surface, men wonder if they have what it takes. When men compete, they’re often captured by the challenge to prove themselves.

Tip Two: To Dream With You
Is there something your husband always longed to do when you were first married, but he’s stopped mentioning it now that you’re busy with daily life?

Tip Three: To Share His Interests With You
It’s easy for the pressures of life to crowd out the fun. Take the things your spouse likes to do and find ways to make them enjoyable for both of you.

Tip Four: To Love You As Best He Can
Many women compare their friendships with men's. Watch men interact with each other before you conclude they avoid close relationships.

Tip Five: To Be Respected And Admired
Men desire to be respected and admired from the women they love. Become an expert on your spouse and learn to praise his strengths.

Tip Six: To Communicate And Be Close To You
Most men want intimacy with their wives—and not just sexually. Men want to understand your rules but are confused when they seem unclear.

Tip Seven: To Find Purpose And Significance
God created us with a deep desire for meaning and significance. Learn how to encourage your husband.

Tip Eight: To Hear Your Gratitude
Many women hold back sincere affirmations. Know that your positive words will pave the way for your husband to do the same.

Tip Nine: To Know You’re On His Side
You and your husband are a lifelong team. When your husband has a problem, it’s your problem, too. A husband longs to know he’s not alone.

Tip Ten: To Have Sex…And Plenty Of It!
Physical intimacy can be a barometer for your relationship. Your husband may see your physical intimacy as a signal that he’s doing fine at home.
