Gambar raya

Gambar raya

Munief & Afiefah with their dad’s cousin, their second cousin, and their third cousin

The kids, with the tanglung toys, given by the nice next-door auntie

MHH’s grandma’s precious recipe book. Nasi beriani, anyone? Eh, projek nak transfer ilmu Tok ni ke format digital dah siap ke, Kakchik? Tukarkan sekali unit ke unit SI, tolong? Kati dan gantang ni tak pandai lah hehe :)

Well, not really gambar raya per se, tapi better lah kot daripada cerita air botol yang langsung takde kaitan dengan raya.

Lagu raya

Kenapa banyak lagu raya yang ada istilah ‘miskin dan kaya’? In my personal opinion, spelling it out like that not only serve to recognize the divide but perhaps even emphasize it somehow. Kalau ‘kota dan desa’ ok sikit kot.

Filem raya

Last night, I watched Sepi on TV3. I like it! It’s the best Malay movie I’ve seen for quite some time. The 3 stories featured may not be uncommon, but they are told beautifully. The film has been executed creatively. Great camera shots and angles. Realistic script. Good acting. There are scenes with unsuitable touchings between unmarried men and women, though, which is probably the only thing I’m not happy about the movie. Afdlin Shauki is right – Kabir Bhatia IS good. Happy as I am to discover a gem in the local film industry though, I still won’t go to see one at the cinema though – it’s only a year or two wait until it reaches the tv. Can watching the movie on tv be considered as supporting it? Hmm… Anyway, I’ll make it a point to look for his other movie, Cinta. Perhaps I’ll like it too. An added bonus, one of the locations used in the movie happened to be a school I once went to. Quite a thrill to see a familiar place being used as the backdrop :)

resipi in jawi! kati & gantang unit apa? zaman kesultanan melayu kut

m-i-o

haha! 1 kati itu seingat saya kalo dlm unit SI jadi 600gram.

tak taulah betul ke tidak. sebab masa kecik2 nenek pernah pesan beli ikan tamban satu kati. bila ckp kat orang kedai tu, nampak dia timbang 600gram. errr, masa tu nama ikan tamban pun sy tak pernah dengar!

waktu tu risau jugak takut org kedai tak paham 1 kati tu berapa byk. kita nak explain pun tak tau. maklumlah baru tadika! nk tanya nenek balik takut dikata bodoh pulak. kahkahkah!

SMM

kak najah,
mmg montel, bulat dan enak dipeluk hehe :)

zzeed,
kati dan gantang is not that ancient! ;) our grandmothers used them (some still do).

Dear friends

Just to share with all of you this amazing book sale happening in
Klang Valley now.

Event: Penguin/Pearson Book Sale
Venue: Pearson Malaysia, Lot 2 Jalan 215, Off Jalan Templer, PJ
Date: 2-11 Oct 2009
Time: 10am - 7pm

If you love books, you have to go. We (my daughter, my sis & I) went
there as usual, with the good intention of buying only a few books,
and we left with 4 boxes! We were definitely in book heaven!

Let me give you some examples. Travel books that are usually RM100+
was between RM15 to 30+. Jamie Oliver cookbooks that are usually
RM100+ are selling for RM30. Novels that are usually RM30 to 60 are
sold for RM10 to RM15. There were so many novels, young teen and
children books. 95% of the books are in mint condition.

Happy days!

SMM
